ABOUT CLIMATE NEXUS
Climate Nexus (CN) is a nonprofit strategic communications group dedicated to changing the conversation on climate change and clean energy solutions in the United States. Climate Nexus was created to be the behind-the-scenes connector to ensure coherent, effective climate communications and to elevate the work of a broad network of partners, including youth groups, environmental justice allies, state and local leaders, and more.
Climate Nexus provides pro bono support to organizations that work on climate change and clean energy and believes the “story” of climate change is the foundation for meaningful action. Our job is to tell that story to as many people as possible.

THE ROLE
Climate Nexus’ digital team seeks a social media-savvy innovator and digital native passionate about content creation and storytelling. This individual will bring solid creative content skills to ensure our messages reach relevant audiences. They will develop a robust content strategy for each campaign and help us stay current on the latest social media and content generation trends to capitalize on critical climate moments.
This person will primarily support the Manager of Creative Content by delivering a high volume of multi-channel digital content needs (paid media, organic social, email, web, and design). They will support with both ideation and generation of culturally relevant, top-of-line creative for our campaigns and product launches.
A solid foundation in the fundamentals of digital content creation (brand identities, video, GIFs, stories, reels, TikToks, and more) is required. This person will help develop content strategies that move hearts and minds, drive engagement, and deepen relationships online. This person must know what content works, when, and on what platform, as there is no one-size-fits-all approach. Finally, they must be committed to climate justice and ready to thrive in a highly collaborative, nimble, and fast-paced environment.
The successful candidate will also demonstrate a commitment to Climate Nexus’ values, the ability to respectfully communicate across racial, cultural, and other lines of difference, and an understanding of how content creation and storytelling can be a tool for impacted communities to advance their work and address historic racial and environmental injustices.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Ideate digital content from initial concept to delivery
- Create video, static, and interactive as well as experimental assets
- Push the envelope and experiment with nascent content formats
- Support the Manager of Creative Content, external partners, and internal teams with content strategy development for various digital campaign efforts, branding, and ad-hoc design needs for the organization
- Tell stories visually by ideating and churning out creative content for existing and emergent platforms, including but not limited to Tiktok
- Help define brand strategy, guidelines, and toolkits for various campaigns while ensuring brand consistency across assets
OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide web design support for micro-sites, landing pages, and email
- Provide general digital marketing support with other channel domains where interest and capacity allow (e.g., organic social, influencer content)
- Provide open discussions about your ideas when presenting work to partners
ATTRIBUTES
REQUIRED:
- 2-4 years of relevant design/content creation or related experience
- Demonstrated track record of content creation and storytelling for impacted communities to advance their work and address historic racial and environmental injustices
- A keen understanding of image equity (i.e. how to uphold diversity in visualization and imagery)
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and to prioritize tasks to meet deadlines
- Experience with static graphics, motion graphics, video, and crafting brand identities
- Working knowledge of some or all Adobe Master Suite applications (e.g. Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere, After Effects, etc)
- Experience creating content for multiple social platforms including, but not limited to, Twitter, Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, Snapchat, and emerging channels
- Excellent content curation and creation skills making reels, stories, GIFs, and more
- Ability to problem-solve, discuss your content ideas with stakeholders, and share your insights and reasons for your design choices
- Willingness to learn new design software to adapt to digital trends
- Approaches relationships and movement space through an equity and justice lens
- Demonstrable commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion

LOCATION: Remote or hybrid for NYC residents. Occasional travel to our New York office may be required. Staff is expected to work East Coast hours, typically 9:30 am – 5:30 pm. Other arrangements may be considered for those located in different time zones.
While we value work/life balance, this role may sometimes require work outside traditional hours due to the nature of our workstream.
SALARY RANGE: Approximately $62,000 – $65,000, commensurate with experience.
